Carlo Colombara’s heavy and powerful voice and acting skills have made him one of the world’s best Verdi interpreters of today. His repertory also includes forays into belcanto and French repertory. A frequent guest with the world’s great opera companies, he performed at Teatro alla Scala di Milano, New York MET, ROH Covent Garden in London, Salzburg Festspiele, Wiener Staatsoper,Teatro Real de Madrid, Liceu de Barcelona, Théâtre de l’Opera de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper in München, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Opernhaus in Zürich, Monnaie in Bruxelles, Lyric Opera di Chicago, Bolschoi in Moscow, Marijnsky in San Perersburg, Tokyo, ecc.. as well as in Arena di Verona, Roma, Parma and Maggio Musicale fiorentino., working with such conductors as Riccardo Chailly, Myung-Whun Chung, Colin Davis, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Carlo Maria Giulini, Eliahu Inbal, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Antonio Pappano, Michel Plasson, Georges Pretre, Wolfang Sawallisch,, Giuseppe Sinopoli,Georg Solti, Marc Minkowski, e Nello Santi.
In addition to the operatic side, he has undertaken an intense activity as a performer of concerts, singing more than 150 times the Requiem by Verdi in cities such as Florence, Rome, London, Boston, Paris, Naples, Tokyo Modena; the latter, in memory of Luciano Pavarotti, with whom he sang it’s last Requiem, with the famous tenor.
He has received many awards including the prestigious Price Viotti, Lauri Volpi, Orazio Tosi, Hats, Monteverdi and Bonci.
